ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS FOR A SUCCESSFUL OPENING SEQUENCE

-eye-catching
-name of film near beginning of the sequence
-institutional detail - distribution/production company (studio), named jobs/actor (convetions of order)
-show off production values
-taste of the rest of the film/makes you want to watch
-good soundtrack, relating to film
-don't let it drag out
-don't introduce too many characters/too much story
-'unique' storyline
-build-up (tension/mystery)/audience want to know
-introduce character or location or theme/story or mood or ALL
-title (minimalist or 'logo' style ) - appropriate to the film
-title sequence reflecting the film
